We’re so excited to be featuring a historical & stylistic Rye Masterclass for this month’s Whiskey Dinner Series. Diving deep into what makes Rye Whiskey, a Rye Whiskey, we will be immersed into the world of spicier and drier whiskey. In this masterclass, Allie Klug from James B. Distilling Co, will share her knowledge and express her opinions on rye whiskey while giving direct feedback to questions, and helping you perfect your rye whiskey skills.

Allie willl take us through a three-flight tasting of James B. Beam Distilling Co’s ryes, including one of Smoke Shop’s own Private Barrel Rye’s. Starting with Old Overholt; the oldest of all Beam family whiskeys, a full bodied rye with balance of spice and deep, dark fruits. Then moving to Jim Bean Rye; made with the bold, spicy, classic old-school Jim Beam Rye recipe and is marked by a warm, spicy kick of black pepper. Then we will end with a Smoke Shop Private Barrel classic; our Knob Creek Rye whose high corn mashbill makes it perfect for the bourbon drinker looking to try a rye.

We take whiskey very seriously—we think having Massachusetts’ largest collection of American Whiskeys might be proof positive of that devotion. With at least 250 bottles, our whiskey program hosts a whiskey dinner each month, designed to expand our followers’ whiskey horizons (and give you a really great night out).
