The Smoke Shop is Andy Husbands’ newest restaurant, adding to his long-standing neighborhood bistro and bar in the South End, Tremont 647 and Sister Sorel. The Smoke Shop—a 150-seat barbecue restaurant—is Andy’s “passion project,” a culmination of his early years as a pitmaster under Chris Scheslinger at the East Coast Grill and his near 20 years on the competitive barbecue circuit with his team IQUE, which he cofounded with Chris Hart.
The Smoke Shop’s menu is not designed with one style of BBQ in mind. It reflects a modern competition-style barbecue, or what Andy likes to call “City Q”. Guests will notice elements from Memphis, Kansas City, and Texas style barbecue along with Asian influences and New England seasonality in the menu. The menu is complemented with a substantial bar program with a foundation in its American Whiskey selection.
Open Monday through Sunday from 11am to 1am, The Smoke Shop also offers a separate take-out area for quick lunch and dinner options for area businesses and residents, plus a full private party and catering business. In the future, the restaurant will have live late-night music and restaurant events.
